Companion by Maria Tiurina

Maria Tiurina

This drawing titled “Companion”. It shows a girl and her gigantic imaginary friend making their way in the world, until they come to the edge of it. Although it looks like their adventure has ended, the girl points to something in the sky to show that there are more places to explore.

“It’s a metaphor for the life experience and the luggage of our imagination. Everyone has a friend—the creature of mind—that follows them from the first day of their life, picking up experience, memories and emotions. We decide for ourselves what to load the vessel with, what the faithful creature of mind and memory will carry along with us to the edge of our existence,” stated Marina Tiurina.

It took took six months to complete this ink drawing on an A1 sheet of paper.
